TULARE COUNTY SHERIFF'S POLICE ACTIVITIES LEAGUE

TCSO PAL

OUR MISSION:

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Police Activities League (TCSO PAL) was established in 1993 as a 501(c)3 organization to combat juvenile delinquency, violence, and gang involvement. As a youth outreach organization TCSO PAL’s mission is to create safer communities by fostering positive bonds between deputies, youth, and their communities via mentorship opportunities, sports and recreational activities, and life enriching youth programs. We believe by bringing young people under the guidance and influence of positive law enforcement, youth will likely come to respect the laws enforced by police officers. Thus, creating a long-lasting impact in the youth and community at large.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

We realize youth today are faced with unprecedented challenges. Social ailments such as parent absenteeism, unattended younger and younger virtual socializing of children, along with the lack of affordable enrichment and sports program increase a youths’ risk for gang involvement and risky behavior. For this reason, our programs are designed to:

  • Provide youth an opportunity to create meaningful and positive relationships with local law enforcement to impart respect and understanding of the laws they uphold
  • Provide opportunities for young people to acquire personal and social assets and promote their positive development
  • Help youth develop the necessary coping and critical thinking skills to overcome adversity and negative peer pressure
  • Encourage community-engagement in project planning and program implementation to strengthen and build sustainable community-police relations

OUR VISION:

TCSO PAL's vision is perpetual: Continue creating safe communities and aiding in the reduction of crime by offering PAL youth a safe space to grow free of cost to PAL families. Last year our organization went from offering three events during the year to providing a free sports league throughout Tulare County. We began by launching a flag football program and quickly expanded to include basketball, bowling, and soccer. In total, we had the privilege of serving over 400 youth in our Sports mentoring program. In addition, TCSO PAL kids had the opportunity to participate in a PAL Beach Trip, a camping trip to Pismo Beach, and attend our annual Christmas Party where approximately 100 bicycles were purchased and gifted to underprivileged youth. All at no cost to the parents. This year our goal is more ambitious.

As we continue to expand our sports and mentorship programs the cost for transportation, meals, and equipment will be the largest yet; therefore, to maintain this vision TCSO PAL is making strong efforts to revamp our fundraising events, forge new partnerships, and become more competitive in the nonprofit arena by becoming official members of California and National PAL.
